Welcome to Accounting!!!
Accounting is a one-year course that will cover the information needed to keep the financial records for a sole proprietorship, a partnership, and a corporation. Second semester you will have a practice set (simulation) that will give you an opportunity to apply what you have learned in the first seventeen chapters. Each chapter includes problems, study guides, and a test.
Time will be given in class for you to work on assignments. This is a time to do just that. It’s also a good time to ask questions on something you may not be quite clear on or have trouble getting something to “balance”. You will be required to have your work completed before you come to class. You will not be allowed to skip an assignment. In order to move on to the next assignment, you must understand what you are doing.
Most of your assignments will be completed on the computer on a program called MindTap through Cengage. The connect button to log in is located in the upper right corner of this page.
Expect a test every 1 to 1 ½ weeks. Most tests consist of two parts—an objective portion (to test your comprehension of the material) and a problem very similar to daily assignments. Unless otherwise stated, your assignment for the day following a test is to read the next chapter.
We will complete an interface project at the end of the year.
MATERIALS TO BRING TO CLASS DAILY: Mechanical pencil, Calculator, Folder and Textbook
Grade percentages are based on the following criteria and are approximate:
TESTS = 66.67%
HOMEWORK/CLASSWORK = 33.33%
